By the beginning of September, Lewandowski had scored three goals in La Liga and two in the Champions League from the goal area. That's the same amount as he managed in the whole of last season - four in the LL, one in the CL. Predictably, since Flick's arrival, he has started to play more and more in the penalty area, and his teammates are more often looking for him with crosses to the far post, but he is still impressive. His finishing has not improved, his shots have just started to be more dangerous because he shoots from positions which are more advantageous. Proof: last season, the average sharpness of one shot in the league without penalties equaled 0.17xG. Since the start of the current season - 0.24xG. He will not be able to keep this pace for the whole season, at his age he needs to be given periodic rest in order not to slump for an even longer period. But most likely he will outstrip his best result in La Liga.

Lewandowski's strategic shift in positioning and increased xG highlight his effectiveness this season. Managing his workload will be crucial to maintaining performance levels. A record-breaking season in La Liga seems within reach.
