Is just the passkey thingy that you cant backup that deteres me to consider it seriously

is there a way to export the private key from the smart wallet? tbh from my perspective - it's probably easier for an average user to lose the seed phrase than lose a passkey

I think there is no method to backup it rn. hence my concern. Somebody from the sm wallet team emailed me some plans to integrate a backup in the future but not sure we are already in that future. Passkey resides in the keychain of iphones not sure where android devices stores them + browser on desktop each in its way. The way it works is like HSM (hardware security modules - secure enclave) we use in banking to store keys: you can just derive new keys but cannot export its root private key (backup). All ok if you trust to not loose access to that HSM. Probably you are right about users loosing seed easier but I know a lot of people that doest not know what their icloud pass is when they uprgrade or lose iphones which makes loosing passkeys a real threat to them. I may be wrong or outdated so would love to hear more on that. cc @aneri

Exportable private key backup is still on the way. Appreciate the patience, we like to be very careful when we're working on anything that touches private keys. No room for error on this sort of thing.

Perfectly understandable and thankful for all the effort and extra care of our security. The question is just if it is feasible on most mainstream platforms. Thanks for the response
