Yet another example of Trump taking a misunderstanding of a subject to the most absurd conclusion.

Like when he misunderstands asylum seekers to be people from “insane asylums” and starts referencing Hannibal Lecter, Trump hears trade deficit and assumes it means America is losing money, when it really means they are spending more money. Something that should be obvious given that they are both richer and more commodity hungry than Canada. 

This video summarizes pretty much every aspect of this issue, including  the US’ much larger trade deficits with other nations. 

It also hints that this may be a tactic aimed at getting Canada to buy more American products through economic and military coercion (the US’ specialty).
