So how many journalists and sportsmen verified their discord and github accounts? :)

Are you trying to make a bigger point or genuinely wondering?

Well, both! I see both platforms skewing towards developers/ more tech-oriented crowd, who I believe are still Farcaster’s main target audience? Yet I’ve seen efforts from the team to onboard people from fields other than tech and crypto. Since it’s not just about voluntarily adding links to your profile for extra context, but a verification process that actually affects the algorithm, I personally felt there was a bit of a mismatch. I know it’s a biased take, so am genuinely curious to hear what the reality is :)

Will answer on the algo part first — can see wording can be confusing here but we detailed what might be the impact for the feed algo on the document on the screen (Learn more). It is more about users who are in the Warpcast public label of "L0" to have a chance to move out from that label with verifications. As Varun detailed on the dev-call yesterday too (not sure if you were there) — as the network grows its more apparent that someone being a good caster does not 1:1 for them being a DAU for a mini app. Mini apps do not care if the user that is verified also a "good caster". They care if they are a legitimate user of their app with some proof of identity from multiple public social networks. Onboarding non-crypto content creators helps increasing interesting content liquidity which leads more eyes on the content from those that may not create but consume. Those consumers can verify and show mini-apps they use they are verified users. Long way of saying — I see them working together not against.

Also — once we push more these verifications out to protocol, everyone will be able to make their judgement based on data which I am sure will lead to more interesting and different takes!
