People keep talking about democrats trying to create a one-party state. But then also idolize places that are essentially one party states: Dubai, Singapore, El Salvador?

This. More people on FC need to hear this. 

If you truly believe in liberty, freedom of speech and freedom to transact, then you are fundamentally out of alignment with one party (dare I say authoritarian) governments—no matter how much they might embrace crypto publicly.

You can certainly still respect and appreciate those countries, but to hold them up as idyllic libertarian hubs reveals a deep misunderstanding of world history and geopolitics.

They don’t have to be libertarian to have libertarian economies.

Sure but you cant do that in any country that exists. 

Unless you’re talking about the extreme theoreticals that maybe rothbard would espouse. Which again don’t exist. 

Saying this because even America isn’t totally free and has laws and regulations. What regulations and laws just varies vs Dubai. 

I can’t just buy heroin in Walmart in New York can I. Just as I can’t in Singapore.

I agree in principle, but in practice I’m skeptical that you can really separate an economy like the ones we’re talking about from the controlling/permitting governments which allow the economies to exist.
