thanks for saying this. lots of developers reached out privately or in group chats expressing the same sentiment, afraid to say it out loud. so are VCs also builders? they too build the capital supply that enables innovation, how’re they different? why the mention of building something that “goes viral” instead of something that provides value on a long-term time horizon? yes, traders and trading platforms drive the most txns and the most volume (which is every L2s OKR) so it makes sense why include this. but Base has *always* embraced memecoins and trading, so this just comes across as inauthentic marketing woo woo word salad.

i agree. this sentence in jesse's tweet is revealing (i added the caps): > TRADERS build the capital supply that enables innovation and provide leverage that helps BUILDERS go viral through price discovery. he uses both words, and each means a different thing. the distinction is still important even to him
