Trump has focused on the fentanyl issue, and his strategy is going to include the same ol' bullshit that doesn't work and led to the fent crisis to began with: scare tactics, increased enforcement, and crackdowns at the border. Trump recently posted on Truth Social that he "will be working on a large-scale United States Advertising Campaign, explaining how bad fentanyl is for people to use." I'm pretty sure everybody knows this already. In fact, people think fentanyl is even worse than it actually is. You will not die from secondhand fentanyl smoke, you will not die from touching fentanyl, you will not die from touching the sweat of an overdose victim. These are some of the myths harm reduction advocates are constantly dealing with thanks to the DEA's last misinformation campaign, and some people are now dead because they overdosed and bystanders were so afraid of absorbing a dose through skin contact they didn't intervene quick enough. How about an advertising campaign that actually educates people?
