Increasingly convinced React Native is not worth the pain and you should just build for each platform separately

You take a pretty big speed hit. So if velocity is important, React Native is worth it.

i'll take the pain over building for two native platforms lmao(unless I 1000% need to for whatever reason) -- not to undermine the value of native apps but I think it creates more headaches in many cases

Hmm don’t think so. Expo has made react native much easier. Using existing knowledge to build an app quickly is very important.

increasingly convinced people who struggle with react native did not do enough platform specific research

Reflexively disagree, but curious to know what specific problems you've had with RN

IMO it’s just not natural. Software is so fucking complicated and trying to have a platform that builds all of them at once is bound to have issues, and I’m not sure if the reward is worth the headache.

Totally disagree (with respect) A mid-weight dev can work across native iOS, Android, TV web. Using the same mental model. Once you get the toolchain set up. And don’t YOLO packages and expect native extensions to work. It’s more than fine.
