How do you decide which chain to build on?

Base is definitely the "go-to" nowadays, but why? It's not TVL because Arbitrum has a lot more and Base was the preferred long before it got to #2 in TVL. Users? Maybe but I don't see many solid stats backing that.

From my POV, it feels like its just vibes? But why? Doesn't it make more sense to do a thoughtful analysis of which chain is ideal for an app's needs?

Related to this, it'd be interesting to see the geographic distribution of chain usage. I'm willing to bet Base has practically monopolized the US, but outside the US there's a lot more variety.

Maybe a symptom of the US regulatory environment? Is the US gov handing Base an L2 monopoly? 😳

Definitely agree, Celo has far more distribution in Africa compared to the rest of the world.

And of course, Tron is most popular in high inflation countries.
