How do you think about claiming shares for songs that haven’t dropped yet? If a track isn’t uploaded anywhere and isn’t making money yet, do you really “own” anything? Curious how you’re explaining this to artists and collectors

That's a really good question. We thought a lot about it and we end up permitting it and flagging the song allowing the user know when it has been released, is in process of release, and when not so the user is at least aware. One of the main goals is to permit artist finance future projects that are not released yet so fans can become labels. The trust risk become specifically for super early artists that do not exist even. In this aspect free songshares are key.

If artists could only do this for free SongShares, it wouldn’t be an issue since there’s no risk to the collector if the artist doesn’t follow through with the release. But I’m not sure if I’d pay upfront unless the song is already out and there’s a clear understanding of what I’m paying for

Totally fair, we wanted to leave it open for the artist, and user to decide wether to offer something for sale, free, public, private, pre-release, released. Just providing all the info to all parties for everyone to be sovereign with their buying / offering decisions.

I think it could work as long as the communication is clear
