Michelangelo hated him and through his life he vindicates Nietzsche. Without heterodoxy, there is no Renaissance.

This thought reminds me of Sontag’s mirror vs window theory of photography - which could be extended to art. Art as a window vs a mirror - realism vs expression. Different perspectives, critical theories through which to view art.
