Let's play a little fiction writing game. I'll give a prompt, you write the opening paragraph of the story. Character X moves to a new country to escape their past, only to find that their past keeps catching up with them. (You can choose any genre, plot direction, setting, character(s), etc.)

the neon signs of tokyo's shinjuku district flickered against the rain-slicked streets as sarah chen checked into yet another capsule hotel. she'd gotten good at traveling light - one backpack, three passports, and a burner phone that she'd ditch tomorrow. but no matter how far she ran, the origami cranes kept appearing. one at each hotel, folded from receipts of wire transfers she'd authorized five years ago. someone was following her digital footprints, and they were getting closer.
