The question of the day:

what is something you are glad you were taught/exposed to at a young age that isn't your current profession/role

for me: im really glad I was around people who encouraged me to participate in various activities at a young age (music, video editing, photography, etc). I even had a stage where my best friend from high school and I played cs:go until 5 am on the weekends  

While I don't do these things now, doing those made me way more comfortable trying new things - it also made me realize that its ok to stop doing something if I don't have any passion for it anymore

I also met so many different kinds of people from doing the above. I 100% think that this helped me get better/get out of my shell a lot

1. Im really glad I was given the chance to explore the world and to be alone since 9. I would be dropped off at a completely different city for a volunteer project for a month. The decision to study overseas was made over night then the next month I found myself staying with a host family when I was 16. Traveling solo has since been one of biggest themes of my life and I met me so many brave and colorful souls.
2. I also grow up with tons of animals. tarantula, lizard, snake, chicken, bunnies…  I had my own insects farm and a hydrological ecosystem tank to take care of since was a kid. I still wish I could be a conservation scientist and feel like I could communicate with animals!

yah definitely. its more common for Europeans, there are a decent amount of Americans who do solo travels but I feel like people tend to do that at a certain age (past mid 20s) and under very specific circumstances (in between jobs, after burnouts, etc)

More women have started doing so which is great!!!

Ive done a ton of solo traveling also and its been amazing - I think its something that anyone should do during at least one point of their life

i think there are a lot of people here that have done this also - its been a common theme I talk about a lot with people on farcaster
