Some people think technological acceleration will bail out the current political order. We’ll grow our way out! Or so the logic goes. But did streaming bail out Blockbuster? Did smartphones bail out Nokia? Or did the Industrial Revolution bail out the monarchy? The growth did come. But so did the disruption.

Agree. With the printing press, the church lost power. With social media, the traditional media and the establishment parties are seeing a lot of disruption. I wonder what will be the downstream effects of cryptocurrencies. How is that going to change the world?

Cryptocurrencies allow willing people to exit their societies and move on somewhere else. This puts on increasing pressure on nation states who depend on extorting taxes, accelerating their downfall. I predict an incoming wave of authoritarian governments trying to avoid this inevitable trickle.
