Is it illegal to give away money to followers?

What if I said I would give 1 ETH to a randomly chosen follower this Friday? 

Screw it, let's do it. I'm gonna give someone 1 ETH on Friday.

1 ETH gives me ~3 months of living expenses here so..

I could afford to do nothing but art for that period (and pay for a couple therapy sessions and rides to visit my parents lol). I would think of an art collection to deploy as a free mint. I’d spend the first month experimenting stuff, the second actually working on the collection, arts and technical aspects, and the third pushing it so people would know about it and get a chance to free mint one. I’d then go and deploy Shane a honorary and invite him for a virtual beer in the end of it all, celebrating both his newly acquired art patron status and a cool free mint seeing the light of the day.
