⛓️ surprised no one shared this great article written by @takenstheorem yet in /onchainart Creating, Destroying, and Restoring On-Chain Artwork about an amazing innovative NFT project on Ethereum called "Rothko on Pennies" (RoP) by artist Yigit Duman and the events surrounding it. https://medium.com/etherscan-blog/creating-destroying-and-restoring-on-chain-artwork-d6f1d031a2d5

Nice article, personally I was turned off the piece by the choice of a Rothko 😂

I can see that recently visited the Rothko chapel in Houston, actually just before it was also destroyed (by hurricane Beryl) next time they should do a Barnett Newman ;) https://rothkochapel.org/learn/in-the-news/press-release/the-rothko-chapel-announces-temporary-closure-due-to-hurricane-damage

I’ve never been but I’ve heard this amazing story that they constantly project images onto the murals so that they look as they did before the paint faded (?)

That is not true for Rothko Chapel, since when I was there recently the was no projections whatsoever. It is actually quite dark inside, it feels like a church and people behave accordingly but asked my ai assistant;) they do project on the paintings in Harvard Art Museum as a way to restore them to original colors https://www.harvardmagazine.com/2014/05/rothkos-highlight-art-museums-reopening
