my favorite part of the new channels design is that it enables the network to be socially fragmented as it grows more fragmentation => less misunderstanding, dunking, vitriol https://www.noahpinion.blog/p/the-internet-wants-to-be-fragmented

Is there another way? After all we see what the desire to be fragmented, isolated leads to: Raw tribal ideological fights. Exposure to different ideas, other ways of thinking is both repulsive and one of the best ways to grow (imo). Farcaster provides a distribution-level knob by construction. I see that as a fantastic opportunity for a social-level knob to search a greater Pareto equilibrium point.

Agreed, looking forward to more distinctly different communities forming here. Will hopefully bring a lot more vibrancy, rather than one dominant crypto conference dev vibe convo. Great essay. "Let the internet once more be an escape — a place where you can find your people and be happy."

Doesn't this eventually lead to everything going off into echo chambers & tribalism?

Absolutely! Fragmentation can really help create more focused discussions and foster healthier interactions. It’s great to see designs that promote understanding rather than chaos. Here's to more meaningful connections!
