Currently reading this Makes a very compelling case that UBI would pay for itself. When people experience less resource scarcity they literally become smarter (perform significantly better on IQ tests) because they feel less stress. Smarter population => higher GDP

Check out Finland's trial in UBI in 2017-2018 and why it failed. More accurately there are ofc some benefits to UBI, but people didn't become more likely to get jobs. No wonder they discontinued the experiment even thou there are some positive effects on people, but that are likely more of a side effect than desired outcome.

Oh, I read this one recently too! The idea that poverty isn’t just about “not having money” but actually drains your mental bandwidth really stuck with me. The part about people scoring higher on IQ tests when they're not stressed about basic needs was wild. Never thought UBI could actually boost the economy instead of just being seen as some kind of handout
