The sci-fi book I’m reading has a wild idea for making the internet more trusted: Build opensource tools to deliberately flood it with as much Sybil BS as possible. The thinking goes that this will nudge everyone onchain (author doesn’t use “onchain” but it’s basically what he’s saying).

@hyp
It’s been a repeating pattern in my lifetime that we go through these phases where truth or reality don’t matter and everybody buys into the illusion and then all of a sudden the illusion comes crashing down and people come back to wanting to see reality again. It’s kinda nice that Z K privacy is happening happening right at the time of deep fix it at least in the short term we have the best of both worlds so we can have privacy and truth.

interesting take. there’s an argument to say that is currently happening with the development of open-source AI. idk if you have seen the marc andresseen & joe rogan podcast but marc touched on this topic, saying candidates will use blockchain in future elections to validate claims
