Anyone saying "nothing happened" during Trump's first term: 

This happened. He created a culture of openly supporting violence against political enemies, and its almost entirely on one side. I've never heard a progressive say they want Trump or other republicans to be killed. His supporters routinely tell any stranger with a camera and microphone that's exactly what they want for democrats.

Fair point. The shameless rage baiting & racist dog whistles in rightwing media for decades prior to Trump is arguably more to blame.

just because you first saw something during an event, it doesn't mean that the event caused the thing. the event might just be what got your attention.

Anyone that says "nothing happened" should ask the thousand of families that were separated with no plan whatsoever to track or reunite them. Or the thousands of families of people that needlessly died from covid due to misinformation. Or the people of Puerto Rico that Trump blocked aid to who spent months without electricity or running water. The list goes on and on.

Yes, by a registered republican. But assassination attempts are usually a different ball of wax. Pretty much all the people who do them have signs of mental illness.

The bigger danger is "normal" people who cheer when the president encourages police to be violent or tells the military to shoot protestors.
