i had a 2 minute "final interview" with a senior engineer just now whom we were excited to chat with about a key role at airstack / moxie, but have now moved on from it went as follows: me: our team has been really impressed with you technically, and we're prepared to make you an offer if we are aligned culturally me: so, let's talk about that. what's important to you wrt work culture them: well, i'm not looking for startup anymore. I want to work in a stable company with less hours, less stress, less hectic me: so why are we even talking? Airstack / Moxie is unapologetically a startup and we need superheroes who can lead big projects on small scrappy teams with high levels of ambiguity and responsibility. if that's not you, then it's not a fit. them: yeah me: ok, so let's end it right there. thanks for your time!

I work with IT in a stable company and can guarantee that there is no such thing as “less stress”. Might have the “less hours” cause with a startup we really might not have those very well established and every extra work is more than needed for things to exist, but “less stress”? Only if you are not interested in evolving at all. I think this guy is looking for a softball. There are no serious companies that will offer a decent career path to someone not willing to put in the effort and wanting to “relax”. But still, the main point in all of this is: Study the damn company you are applying to! It’s not just the company’s job to study if you are a fit for them, but you should also study the company to judge if you are aligned with what they need. 🤦‍♂️
