I guess he’s an outlier. I’ve always thought what makes him stand out is being good at adding human elements to his music, making it feel really intimate and emotional. Maybe the whole humanity thing comes down to whether someone positions themselves as a DJ or an artist? Or do you think it’s more about the lack of vocals in electronic music compared to other genres?

I mean I think we are trending to less things produced by machines. FA has less machine elements than someone like Skrillex, so I think that says a lot about where things are going with him being the biggest EDM artist right now. Its more a spectrum than a dichotomy. For instance, even the most acoustic music today is processed with computers
