Curating /outcasters has become more challenging due to the increase in spam on Farcaster. So I have decided to run a new experiment:

Step 1: download list of all Power Badge users
Step 2: use list to filter top 1000 casts in last 7 days
Step 3: remove spammy users from list
Step 4: go back to step 1 and repeat weekly

I've just looked at the top 1000 casts based on most likes recieved since Sunday, April 21, and it turns out that @imthedude has casted 175 of them. That's 17.5% of the top-performing casts in the last three days. If this isn't spam, I don't know what is! But somehow, this person still has the power badge.

I started with the power badge list which included 4407 users in total as of yesterday. Then I look at the top 1000 casts made by those users and filter out the spammy ones. Then download the power badge list again each week (to make sure new power badge users are included) and run the same process again.

The goal is to get back to having a clean feed to curate from when I pull up the top 1000 casts each week. It was such a pleasure to explore in the past. Now you will lose brain cells going through it. 

Subreddits show you a clean feed if you look at the top posts in last week, so why can't Farcaster?

I thought your plan might have flaws. The power badge isn’t the best gauge of quality. Having said that, I have one so hopefully I don’t count in that statement 😁😁

Yup, and this user is one of many. It's sad how many of the top performing casts are spam, even when you filter by users who have the Power Badge.

Esp when you dig digger and see it's mostly self-promotion for his monetization of followings

Shouldn't the user be getting nerfed on Warpcast though? What they are doing is not ambiguous

Agreed, the guy's basically buying engagement and then releases NFT and memecoin. Also randomly dropping tips to farmers that will dump their degen as soon as they can. Net negative for warpcast and the community as a whole imo
