What happens to a channel if the moderation tool you used for months or years decides to completely shut down?

I'd suggest getting a dedicated channel bot (if one of the tools will allow for that). Can always run a script or another account that mirrors all the likes and then you could switch over.

I can't seem to shake off this framing: An open protocol doesn't easily allow for restricting access, as by default, everyone can read every cast on Farcaster. If you truly want to own and control your community on a decentralized protocol, building your own client seems to be the best approach.

You're 100% in control of your main feed. 1. You can manually curate (probably not efficient with spam) 2. Build your own tool 3. Use another tool 4. Possibly mix and match Might take some time for the market to come up with solutions.
