Noticing an increase in content that feels AI-generated in my feed and priority mentions. Was there a change on the WC side or are the spammers just evolving?

What’s your default feed? Set that badboy to “followers” and that should fix it. If not just head over to /unique-vehicles and it’ll slap ya in the face with realness

Eh, no offense to anyone I follow but following only can get boring—I also want to be exposed to new content I wouldn't have otherwise come across in my existing circle.

Do you think its more natural to expose yourself to new content by seeking channels/topics you are interested in or for the home algo to do that work for you?

Between seeking out manually vs an algo, I strongly prefer the latter—I'm lazy and it's less work. Ideally the algo is good enough that it does the "seeking" for me. I don't know if that's "natural" as much as it is just easier. What about you, what do you think?

I don’t mind algorithms, as long as I know exactly how they work or have the ability to customize them. Since that’s not an option on Warpcast, I stick to the following feed or go directly to channels. Otherwise, im on @recaster-fc where I enjoy the benefits of custom user and channel lists

Why do you want to know exactly how the algo works?

1. Because I like to understand how/why people and content are being presented to me 2. Im curious 3. I care about transparency 4. Not knowing is how web2 operates imo. Web3 should strive to do better, if that’s still even a thing

Maybe I'm wrong, but my guess is the reason it's not more open is because it would make it a lot easier for spammers to game the algo. But I do agree with your points.

Spam is a separate issue, often used as an excuse rather than a strong argument against open-source, fully transparent algorithms. It’s obvious that spam would be a problem in a permissionless network. The real challenge is finding new ways to fight it. I think the answer likely lies in leveraging both offchain and onchain data, tapping into users digital history. Verifying Twitter accounts and phone numbers feels basic and outdated

Why is spam separate? It feels very important to me. Think of it like a javascript sort fn. If your algo sorts based on XYZ variable, then spammers are going to try to maximize XYZ variable. Obviously it's more complicated, but it's the algo being public that tells spammers what to optimize. That's why it matters.
