Is my habit of self-deprecation and undermining my achievements with self-effacing humor the reason nobody will hire me? 

Multiple people have told me I’m one of the most intelligent people they know and yet I still always feel dumb.

Honestly, all the super smartest people I know feel dumb... and I think it's because they have some concept of just how much they don't know...

... whereas the rest of us have so much confidence.

Have you tried teaming up with someone who interviews extremely well but doesn't know anything and can't do any work?  They get the job and you show up on the first day and never look back.
