SERIOUS QUESTION. Trigger warning… it’s dark.

Would killing a child be okay by ethical or moral standards if there was definitive knowledge that this child was going to grow up to be a brutal dictator killing millions of people and cause endless suffering for others?

Playing “The SIMS Pets” except this feels real. Cannelle is dog. Cruella is cat. I am mother.

Essentially this is the trolley problem but more intense.

Personally I'd try and push on 'definitive' first... would it definitely happen if the child was sent overseas. Would it definitely happen if the child was kept at a nice but inescapable place?  If it was definitely going to happen then I'd say yes, for the greater good, but I'd have so many questions first.

Considering I don't believe in prophetic dreams, I'm not sure I could kill him based on what he was saying.   Considering that I don't know anything about anything and I know there is so much I don't know... I think I'd basically try to get as much information out of him as possible, and then keep an eye on him - see if there's any safeguards I could implement. 

The problem is that if I kill the child then we'd never know if I did the right thing or not...

What if the child kept telling everyone his prophetic evil dreams of the future and with his childlike innocence told you to kill him or else he would have no choice but to live out his dreams? Would you kill him? How would we know if he was serious? We couldn’t. What if he grew up and lost all innocence and sense of good and did exactly what he said?
