I don't really get this line of criticism. Replying to large or famous accounts is a tried and true way to grow when you are new to a social network. Are you suggesting that people shouldn't try to grow because some third party has instituted a reward mechanism for behavior that was once viewed as commonplace? I usually vibe with your takes but this one has me scratching my head. Everyone wants to grow their account.

I don’t, but I am trying to understand it. :) The real issue appears to be Moxie, not users continuing their usual behavior on social networks. No matter how they adjust their algorithm, there will always be those who exploit it through inauthentic activity. It’s par for the course when financial incentives are involved. But broadening the criticism to target typical user behavior seems like attacking the problem from the wrong end.
