Farcaster protocol metrics are meaningless when Warpcast — the largest client by far and which is developed by the same team as the protocol — is full of shenanigans Why lead with reporting/cheerleading such meaningless metrics? https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0x0f27efb0

Good question. But the answer is gona be that all the other guys (Twitter, Instagram, etc) are also reporting meaningless metrics so nothing to see here. When cheering about the growing DAU metric on FC, I’d love to see some attempt at breaking down how many are qDAU vs spam.

I've always seen the protocol as a sewer system that pipes the content & the client as the filter. Regardless of what the team says, I see two things happening: 1. WC mod tools continue to evolve so as to better filter out content that doesn't qualify as qDAU 2. An alternate client that is tuned for qDAU gains momentum

My reaction on protocol metrics: 1) it’s good to poke holes and question what’s coming from merkle. Merkle should welcome earnest debate 2) I miss the days when qDAU was talked about more than DAU, but 3) if the goal is 1B DAU, surely we can’t expect quality, qDAU will be a 1% of the 1% So what’s our goal?
