I think jay walking will become a serious crime in service of autonomous vehicles within next 5 years

Good point. I can imagine teenagers daring each other to run out in front of AVs to get them to stop or avoid hitting them. Or just people in general crossing whenever they want bc they know the cars will stop for them. Cameras on the cars should make it easy to identify people doing this though.

I think companies will be extremely reticent to do this. The only thing worse than taking peoples jobs is building mobile surveillance machines. Apparently google is suing Waymo vandalizers but it’s being done very quietly compared to how loudly they could be doing it
