Should we introduce a new sign up tier to reduce the cost of signing up? 

Would be low cost (< 25c) but come with much smaller storage limits like maybe 10 casts, 100 follows or something like that.

Why?

It would be very frustrating to interact with these accounts. Replies would disappear before you had a chance to read them. Threads would become unreadable.

Is the fear that people will develop bots on other, free social media platforms instead of FarCaster?

If you do this, I'd recommend some evolutionary pressure towards good accounts.

They could earn credits (warps?) for likes / follows / engagement... maybe more rewards from engagement w/ OG NFT holders or top accounts.

Bad accounts should die quickly, good ones can live longer.

$2 -> $0 would be significant.

$2 -> $0.25 doesn't fundamentally change anything (paywall still exists).

Cost reduction + worse accounts is probably the wrong lever. Hard to see that unlocking much growth.

I'd try moving the paywall. Lurk (maybe Follow & Like?) for free, pay for a username & to cast.

the why is pretty simple. no large scale social network or wallet has ever succeeded by having a paywall in front of users. it seems unlikely that we will reach the next 10x if we charge people $2 to use the product.
