I guess risk and freedom are two sides of the same coin. A good job is usually low risk but high freedom but that’s why they’re so rare. Most jobs are low risk and low freedom. 

If you do take risk on your own (becoming a founder or joining an early startup) if you succeed you have your own agency.

i can’t conceive a life on which I don’t take risks… but i was asking out of curiosity towards your experience.

maybe ill phrase the question differently:

is freedom a consequence of your circumstances or more an attitude towards them?

what has been the most important vehicle for you to realize that answer?
