Alcohol consumption declining but is it permanent?

Consumption of beer peaked in 2016. Wine has been falling since 1979.  Interestingly, we have been spending more on alcohol while consuming less of it, opting for expensive cocktails and higher end booze.

anecdotally, more and more of my friends are no longer drinking - and when/if they do, it’s like once a year

the rate that’s increasing seems to match the trend

yeah same for me anecdotally but millennials still leading the pack in alcohol consumption 

Would love to see the increase in recreational drug use alongside the decline in alcohol

i’d bet it’s a hockey stick

seems like everyone is “sober” (but still does psychs)
