ENS missed an opportunity to take advantage of their incentive 

They should’ve incentivized people to attest more information to their ENS profile which would’ve made the ENS protocol more valuable and sustainable

The L2 strategy is downstream of the missed opportunity by ENS on mainnet.  ENS failed to become anything more than a domain service when they had a clear opportunity to be more than that by tying additional info to wallet addresses

the L2 strategy failed ENS

L2s becoming a core part of ethereum scaling meant that ENS went from having a chance to be a canonical domain that can hold that data to just being a simple decorator with many competitors on every L2. it lost its significance.

not saying the L2 strategy is wrong. just saying that it has a negative effect on ENS.
