was surprised to see hundreds of replies under every post on /trending

but then i tried to read them and it's just spam?

am i missing the meta?

do i need to nurture spammy replies?

I've noticed an increase in comments that are of no value like everywhere else is flooded with. I don't know if it's just bots or these people don't understand the concept of reading for context or just reading at all. I guess it's unavoidable.

Did I do something wrong to be excluded? Also, I'm curious to know if I do ever get one would it be wrong to say thank you? I would instinctively say thank you, but I feel like I rarely see anyone saying that.
