I've noticed that in Bluesky I much rather have a feed of the people on a "starter pack" as opposed to just following them. If I follow different starter packs then my feed becomes a mix of content from different topics and when I only care to see content from a specific topic such as React Native I have to keep scrolling to find some of that content in my feed. Granted folks on the React Native starter pack won't necessarily just post about that. This is were custom feeds and channels come into play. Starter packs are just nice to get some initial distribution when you're new to the network. Hence the name. But not necessarily valuable long term.

I’m on the fence when it comes to lists. I’ve never bothered to maintain one myself, but I do head to a few on X from time to time. Channels feel like part of the solution here without having to actively curate.
