When enabled, a one-time code from an authenticator app will be required to recover your Farcaster account, and login via email on web will be disabled.

Enable on Settings > Advanced.

this is great, but how do i deactivate it if i want?

Just toggle the switch back to off where you enabled it.

i already turned it on and added to my auth app but it’s still displaying as off in warpcast. so i can’t turn it off.

It's not marked as verified. Did you go through the page where you enter the code and then see the "enabled" screen afterwards?

We verify the first code before the feature is enabled for you.
It doesn't seem that we verified a code for you.

Could you go through the flow one more time with a new secure key and make sure the first code is verified? Otherwise the feature won't be enabled.
