I know it's not social media but I wonder whether the first emails were about emails and how long before they stopped emailing about emails.

Recently finished the book Where Wizards Stay Up Late. They describe the early days of email. It reminded me of this thread since they infact used email frequently to discuss emails 😅.

my main reference points are twitter, tiktok, and instagram, which are all about themselves much of the time. 

i think my friend x.com/prestonattebery would say there’s a big difference between social media and messaging, and email is messaging. bc snapchat also isn’t about snapchat per se. but you’re right.
