Stated preference: I want to eat healthy and nutritious food. Revealed preference: I will eat all the sweets and snacks available to me. Sometimes we need to help users stick to their stated preferences. It's a balance.

That assumes what you’re being served is clickbait? Algorithm can serve you interesting good content, too. It’s more about filtering out mid content

It's a general critique of the whole stated vs revealed preference thing. It's more nuanced than it seems. It's clear for clickbait but might not be for other types of products and content. i.e. I want more interesting documentaries recommended to me instead of true crime, even though I keep clicking on true crime.

I love this very much. I want my tech to help me do better. Most software right now is built on principals that assume I want to stay who I am. It works the same way a donut works to get you to eat, it’s a way to do it but there are better options. At a protocol level I’d like the option to change my diet
