The market doesn’t seem to accept OP is Base’s token. When Jesse was on Bloomberg recently, even Mike Novogratz asked multiple times when Base will launch a token. Are people just cynical about the relationship between Base <> Optimism? What am I missing? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2024-06-04/next-gen-of-internet-is-on-base-coinbase-s-pollak-video

Personally, I think @jessepollak has been a great advocate for the Superchain. I'll always want them to talk more about Optimism, but Base has an ecosystem to build, and plugging the infrastructure all the time doesn't make sense. Here's how I see it: this is on the Optimism Collective to solve. * Shift the narrative from "Optimism = OP Mainnet" to "Optimism = the Superchain" * Drive "Built on the Superchain" branding across OP Stack chains * Drive product clarity through educational campaigns and visual storytelling * Ship interoperability (native OP token across Base, Mode, etc.) * Keep getting large ecosystem chains to build on OP Stack, contribute revenue, and join the Superchain * Make sure people know Base, Mode, Zora, World Chain, and all Superchains are contributing 15% of their sequencer fees to the Optimism Collective. * Let Grants Council cook and build and invest in the future of OP mainnet If we solve this, the story will tell itself and won't need to be authored by Base or Optimism.

Well said! If the infra has done its job well, it becomes invisible and powers products on top (eg. Base) The marketing tactics all make sense, but a couple follow-up questions: - Will any of the 15% of sequencer profits get distributed to OP holders directly? - Do you think sequencers cannibalize each other? Ie. how does each chain in the superchain carve out a differentiated fee base such that the collective is not just playing musical chairs? - How do you stop free riders? Eg. If I'm an OP stack chain and conform to the law of chains, then can I benefit from interop and other standards while refusing to tithe the 15%? Or do y'all plan to enforce this in protocol somehow? Right now, the superchain is a great meme but there's no fundamental value that accrues to OP token holders - part of the problem to solve is improving the monetary premium of the asset. Otherwise, there's no reason to take OP cross chain or do anything with it frankly

- Will any of the 15% of sequencer profits get distributed to OP holders directly? That's up for Governance to decide. Fees tracked here: https://dune.com/oplabspbc/op-collective-contribution-tracking - Do you think sequencers cannibalize each other? Ie. how does each chain in the superchain carve out a differentiated fee base such that the collective is not just playing musical chairs? OP Chains in the Superchain commit to contribute the greater of 2.5% of gross sequencing revenue or 15% of sequencing profit (L2 profit minus L1 data costs) - contemplating other streams to the Collective is important. - How do you stop free riders? Eg. If I'm an OP stack chain and conform to the law of chains, then can I benefit from interop and other standards while refusing to tithe the 15%? Or do y'all plan to enforce this in protocol somehow? We're rolling out a smart contract enshrinement that will automate the fees -> Collective so that we can scale and not require manual administration.

Thanks for the answers! Appreciate y’all engaging in public dialogue about this, as that’s what makes governance fruitful :) Your last point is the most interesting - in order to be in the superchain, you need to commit sharing sequencer fees to the collective, if I’m understanding it correctly Onchain NATO!
