I need to get my professor neighbor on here man. You guys would go nuts. The man has encyclopedic knowledge of all this stuff and can read/write both Latin and Greek. Not Roman but Greek: yesterday he taught me about the origins of "Come and Take It" at the Battle of Thermopylae. "Come and take it" is a long-standing expression of defiance first recorded in the ancient Greek form molon labe "come and take [them]", a laconic reply supposedly given by the Spartan King Leonidas I in response to the Persian King Xerxes I's demand for the Spartans to surrender their weapons on the eve of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. Explaining this to me as he HANDWROTE OUT THE GREEK
