I am actively thinking about this. But also deeply value continuity + depth in kid's friendships (vs having new, shallow friendships every so often), as well as sense of community belonging. I feel it's a sacrifice we're willing to make.

OK I may be in a weird minority: our kid's school is around the corner (and a great one) and I also work remote (almost always), even if my office is ~3mi away (primarily because I make a point to always drop off and pick up my kid from school). But what you pointed out is profound!

I would argue the things you value and the ability to spend weeks, months, or seasons each year away from one’s primary residence are not mutually exclusive.

It’s harder to give something up once you have it and just as some remote workers are refusing to go back some parents will refuse to let school rule.
