why do we (society) obsess over and often hate tech billionaires but don’t bat an eye at music billionaires (taylor swift, jay Z), sports billionaires (magic johnson, lebron), or entertainment billionaires (george lucas, tyler perry)?

i think because they see it as "business person taking advantage of others to make money" saying they don't deserve the money, the workers do in the eye of the public, tech people are closer to traditional business than athletes or musicians are most people don't think of "business" when they think of music or sports

agree, thanks for the thoughtful response. somehow the origin of fame and wealth for many of sports or music stars overpowers the fact that most end up businessmen, whether by launching a scaleable consumer company or investing in startups or acquiring real estate properties.
