this has happened to me. i hear it's because the ledger has battery problems and can die completely (haven't verified) - fortunately, i had my seed backed up, but i don't think ledger has ever been quality engineering and now its software and team are on a sharp downhill, too

From all the horror stories like this, I assum that ledgers have cost people more in lost crypto than they've saved.
