What happens to decentralization when a blockchain gets really large because of cheap gas?

is this a trick question? 
yes decentralization can be greatly impacted but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed(there can be an adoption of a dynamic gas fee mechanism), but that’s besides the point, that is a blockchain and this is a social network, or has the aim of farcaster changed from getting really large (by onboarding more people)?
