Pixar Typestry emerged during a period when Pixar was transitioning from hardware to software solutions, having sold its hardware division in 1990. Typestry was part of Pixar's efforts to diversify its product offerings & generate revenue through software tools. A few years later Pixar would ditch all this & go all in on feature films. The rest is history.
