For so long I've seen/read bits of this mythical place called Cavasso Nuovo, where I was pretty sure my grandfather, Aladino Franceschina, was from. I had a long video of a trip that Dad made here in 1980 that cataloged some of it, and I only recently digitized it and sync'd the sound and walked through it all to try and determine where he traveled and who the people were in the video. For years I've seen this little "borgo franceschina" street on Google Maps inside of Cavasso Nuovo, and kept telling myself "One day I'm going to go there and declare myself the mayor" 😂 Then this year, I finally got moving on my Italian citizenship through descent and on Saturday it all happened! I met distant family and we ate and drank and ate and drank and drank… and drank... and it was so very pleasant and fulfilling!
