My wife breastfed our first child for very long times, and woke up many times at night, for over 2 years. She felt this societal pressure that babies had to be breastfed if at all possible, otherwise you are not being a good mother. This was extremely taxing on her, borderline depression.

With our second child we decided to offer the bottle after each feeding in case the baby was still hungry. Progressively he was eating more from the bottle and less from the breast, so we switched to all bottle after 4 months. Best decision ever: healthy baby that sleeps better, happy wife. Take care of yourselves.
