The difficulty of the captcha is based on a lot of factors including the reputation of your IP address, your browser fingerprint and many other settings. 

For example, simply having a mismatch between your IP location and your browser region settings could flag you as being suspicious and increase the difficulty.

I once had to solve a 10 step captcha that was hard to solve even for a human. Failed twice and gave up hahaha.
