It closed in 1945 and was the deepest gold mine in the US, they had to run a vertical cable down 100s of feet to bring material to the loader at the surface and used special giant metal tensile cables specially designed to not twist ad it raised up with the rich gold bearing paydirt ⛏️⚒️

obviously being in a geology adjacent field I find gold mining super interesting, the equipment it requires is so intense. There's this show I'll put on in the evenings sometimes as background when I'm working at night called Gold Rush and its pretty wild seeing everything that goes into a mining operation.

The only time I’ve seen something so intense is mont saint michel with their colossal wheel and outdoor pulley 😳 but theirs was Mickey-Moused compared to these special tensile cables
